Defective Medical Device – A federal jury in St. Louis, Missouri awarded twenty million dollars in compensatory damages to Plaintiff who suffered catastrophic and permanent injuries after being implanted with a metal-on-metal hip device that was never tested in humans. The jury also awarded one million dollars to Plaintiff’s husband for his loss of consortium. This twenty-one-million-dollar jury verdict is one of the largest single plaintiff compensatory jury verdicts for a defective hip in the country.

Birth Injury – Plaintiffs’ newborn daughter suffered permanent brain damage because of negligent nursing care when a nurse failed to report multiple signs of sepsis to a physician. A Colorado jury, after three weeks of testimony, awarded the family over twenty-seven million dollars in damages. Defendants appealed the case all the way to the Colorado Supreme Court which upheld Plaintiffs’ verdict and made new case law within the State of Colorado regarding the mechanisms and application of Colorado’s Medical Malpractice Cap. Together with interest, the total award equaled over forty million dollars, the largest medical malpractice award in Colorado history.

Pedestrian Struck by Car – Jury awarded a pedestrian Plaintiff over nine million dollars, with interest, after she was struck by Defendant’s vehicle within a crosswalk and suffered a traumatic brain injury.
