Yaz, Yasmin and Ocella (the generic), some of the most popular birth control pills in the United States, are associated with a significantly higher risk of blood clots (deep vein thrombosis), stroke, pulmonary embolism, heart attack and gallbladder disease. Medical reports found that drsp or drospirenone, a progestin contained in the pills, is the cause of these risk.

Bayer, the manufacturer of Yaz and Yasmin, in advertisements minimized the serious risks associated with these birth control pills. The FDA required Bayer to run new ads listing the serious health risks of Yaz and Yasmin. Many women have already suffered side effects and even death.
