Due to a high rate of revision surgeries to correct or remove defective implants, DePuy Orthopedics has recalled its ASR XL acetabular hip replacement and resurfacing system. These revision surgeries are painful and expensive and recovery often takes as long as the initial hip surgery. The Chinese Drywall Legal Network announces that a settlement has been reached with Knauf Plasterboard (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. (“KPT”) in the national Chinese drywall litigation pending in New Orleans. These cases arise from the contamination of the long grain rice crops in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas and Missouri by a genetically modified rice (GMO) that had not been approved for human consumption. This is litigation against the maker of Zurn Pex, Uponor, RTI, Kitec and Marshall Brass plumbing systems. Zurn’s fittings are identified by a Q Pex or a QPex stamped on their side.
